Pat Fagan
Teacher/Co-Director
Pat Fagan began playing the guitar at the age of sixteen. He studied classical guitar at the College of Music in Dublin with Irelands leading classical guitarist John Feeley, qualifying with diplomas in performance from London College of Music and a teachers diploma from Trinity College of Music London.
He has been teaching guitar for the past twenty four years in schools throughout the country with the Dublin V.E.C., Bray V.E.C., Galway V.E.C., Kings Hospital Secondary School etc.
He is at present co-director and teacher at the Dublin School of Guitar where he taught for the past twenty one years.
He has devised a system of guitar tuition for accompaniment guitar (songs, chords etc.) separating the three areas:
- Left hand technique.
- Right hand rhythm (strumming) or fingerpicking.
- Co-ordination of above with voice.
The system Pat has developed makes it easier for the pupil to understand and assures steady progress with it's step by step approach.
In 2002 Pat formed an acoustic group "The Mysterious Chords" who have just released their first album. There are thirteen songs on the album which have been written by Pat. These songs have been described as melodic and the vocal harmonies & acoustic guitar playing have helped to establish The Mysterious Chords as exciting live performers. They have played across Dublin in well established venues such as Whelans, Airfield House, The Cobblestone and more.
