Our Background

Since its inception in 1979 The Dublin School of Guitar has become one of Ireland’s most prestigious guitar schools. The school during its time has been the home of many well known guitarists including Gerry Leonard M D for ( David Bowie, Rufus Wainwright and Susanne Vega ) Ronnie Drew ( The Dubliners ) and Bill Shanley ( Mary Black ) to name but a few.

The Dublin School of Guitar in partnership with DIT

The Dublin School of Guitar has formally signed a partnership agreement with the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, which means that our present and future students can sit for DIT internal grades and diplomas. This partnership agreement recognises the professionalism and high standard of teaching that the Dublin School of Guitar provides and we are delighted to be associated with such a highly revered centre of learning which is internationally recognised.

Conservatory of Music &
Drama

Is a conservatoire centre of excellence for education in the performing arts. We offer high quality, performance-based study programmes in music from age 3 through to doctoral study, an undergraduate programme in drama performance, and courses for adults. We cover the broadest range of performing arts disciplines in Ireland with degree programmes in classical and Irish traditional music, composition, musicology, music education, jazz, opera, drama and (in association with partner colleges) rock and pop music, and film scoring.

Our graduates go on to make successful careers and significant contributions in the performing arts and cultural industries, in Ireland and beyond.

Accreditations

Studying at the D.S.G. you can follow a set syllabus by one of the following bodies: DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama – Trinity college London – The Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music – The Royal Irish Academy of Music – The London College of Music and the R.G.T. – The Victoria College of Music London. Successful candidates receive a graded certificate from one of the above colleges. We also cater for all the major and relevant examining bodies. Also caters for Junior and Leaving Certificate.
